What was the first bbs that you called in 79? Just curious. I started to called bbs'es in 1985 and believe the first system I called into was a CompuServe multi-line system. It was shrotly after claling into CompuServe that a friend of mine that worked at a local Radio Shack printed me out my first bbs list to start calling.

The first BBS I called was the Datawarehouse in the mid 1980's.
the Sysop was Dennis Mott if I remember right.

... Drop your carrier, we have you surrounded.

I remember connecting to compuserve. We had number assignments instead
of handles. I also remember having to get a part time job to pay the
phone bill! It was fun though connecting at 300 bps and watching the
text slowly scroll by. I believe in those days we called that reading
speed. I spend most of my paycheck at Radio Shack in the 80's. Thanks
for bringing back a great memory.

I was lucky - when I was on Compuserve, my company had a support forum
on it, and we got 5 free, unlimited accounts to play with. I was
    75300,1375 for many years.

In the Windows 3.1 era, there were nice GUI clients like WinCIM that
made it a little more user-friendly.
