I am thinking with government restrictions in Australia and the United Kingdo we should be using BBSing as an alternative medium. Its akin to HAM radio now

You should not need to submit your ID just to use a bloody search engine.

A lot of this could be avoided if parents were more aware of what their children were up to online, and also if the didn't look at tablets and
phones as something to keep the kid occupied (and out of their hair).

well one time i let him sign up to a forum for his guild in a game he played. that's about it.

then my step daughter's mom let her go online and use her phone and she catfished a bunch of guys. she got her phone taken away like 10x.

they werent old guys but older boys.
one kid i went on fb and told his grandma on him.

That is where you get trouble going. Letting them online where they think
they are just playing games but others take them serious.

    LOL.

    I agree with this point.
Also parents need to teach their kids what things are acceptible to talk
about online and what things are not.
Standard stuff, don't give your address to anyone, if questions get
personal in nature, always remember that ther's a person behind every keyboard.
It was pretty simple, when I was about 14 our computer teacher at the residential school use to tell us, don't do anything online you don't
want your mother to find out that you did.

she wasnt saying anything bad. she said she was from germany and was making
up all kinds of stuff. she wasnt sending photos.

but the guys were saying the worst stuff possible.
they were very blunt and saying stuff i wont repeat here. but basically they wanted to meet right then for sex and would travel.

then i see this one guy was using textme thinking he was being anonymous
so i cyber stalked his ass. he was probably terrified.

    this is the textme guy.
    he is cross eyed. haha

another thing is restrict them somehow in the games they play.
my goddaugher's brother is 7. he was playing roblox and there's other
    people on there.

he THINKS he's talking to people his age in the game but he could be talking to some sick adult. it would never occur to him that someone in the game is not his age.

i guess for voice chat in that game they have this policy:

"How do I turn on Voice Chat?
Eligible 13+ users must be phone number verified or age checked to see the Voice Chat option in Communication settings. Voice Chat is not enabled by default.

Phone verification, age checks and enabling Voice Chat settings can only be done through the Roblox mobile app, desktop app, or Roblox.com.

Voice Chat features may not be available in certain regions. Verification methods, such as phone number, ID and Facial Age Estimation, may also not be available to all accounts.

    "

that doesnt mean he didnt get a friend or an older brother to enable it for him, though.

Not sure what you're talking about here. I have certainly never done
    that.

That is because you live in the "free-state" of Florida and not the UK or
    OZ. ;)

Fun fact, there is a character in that game whose role is that of an evi right-wing antagonist trying to turn you into a radical. Can you imagine
that was quite funny actually. they made her hair purple because they assumed that people leaning right might associate that with something negative the sa way they do when they see left wing people with brightly colored hair.

    Which game is this?

    it was titled "Pathways"

apparently it went from removing her character and keeping the rest of the content as-is to completely shutting it down already
