    Absolutely. I love seeing a nice, formated screen of text. No distracting images, animations, etc.

    Quite a few of those publications were advertising an "online version" of the magazine available through their BBS. Was it just plain ASCII text dropped into file sections?

    Pretty much. Like their BBSes, they didn't put much flair into their e-zines. Some mags were offered on commercial services like AOHell...er, "L", Prodigy, Compu$erve, etc. where they could add color and images, but you paid extra for those.

    I don't know why someone would rather use pablodraw than fireup dosbox and
    use aciddraw or thedraw.

    icedraw is pretty nice though.
