    It is certainly not a common expression for many, many people.
    It refers to a very dark period in the history of Europe (and the whole
    world), World War II.
    It is not done to refer so casual to the regime that brought so much
    misery and suffering in that period (gas chambers!)
    (dozens of millions (!) of people were killed in Europe in 1939-1945)

    President Erdogan of Turkey has accused the governments of Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium of being fascists and nazis.
    That has created much political tension between Turkey and those
    countries.

    Don't you follow the news?
    Don't you know the history of Western Europe, including your country?

    I cannot see any humor whatsoever in you using such a wrong expression,
