    Hi Ward,

I did something I vowed I woud never do ... I bought an iPad ... for my
    wife.

Now she asks me "How can I print stuff?"

I do have a standard WiFi-network with modem and router in the house with 9 workstations, networked Epson printer and other goodies.

Can I print files from that iPad on that printer via the network?

    1. Buy a AirPrint enabled printer; see list below

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356

    2. Run the CD provided and setup as network printer; this will setup your printer to the same network as your iPad

    3. Start printing from your iPad without wire

    ========

There are other notes on google about it.

Can I browse files on the network and for examples play music or movies from the media-server?

    http://www.daniusoft.com/tutorial/convert-flv-to-ipad.html

describes converting .flv files to ipad compatible video formats.. maybe that will help you.

    Take care,
    Janis

    Welcome to the kool-aid :-)

Personally I tell people the iPad is a consumer device -
it consumes and makes things paperless. If you must print,
email it to yourself and print from a computer.

I saw the other reply (and yes I know this is an old post -
I'm new to this echo though) and there are things you can
do, like share a printer from your MAC or PC and print to
    it.

Bottom line - IMHO - an iPad is GREAT (I have one too, and
love it) but it's NOT a replacement for a computer.

If you have WebDav turned on on your media server you should
be able to, though I've not done it. As a full blown Apple
fanboi I have an Apple TV and the iPad (and my MacBook) serve
up the media to the Apple TV. :-)
