UUCICO is not even needed if one uses tools like souper or soupgate to pull the mail... one might need a tool like GIGO to convert the mail to FTN PKTs which are then tossed by your normal mail tosser... i'm not sure about either of those handling email, though... i've only ever used souper for news... GIGO has an addon for SMTP which handles all my inbound email... this should work just fine for most all BBSes as long as they can toss FTN PKTs into their message bases...

It is for me since I have a UUCP feed for Internet Email and
newsgroups -- which I am currently using on my Wildcat! 4.2MP setup

wow! i can't even find the UUCP maps any more... i was listed in them for a number of years before we got dialup internet and switched GIGO to using the addon package...

for Internet Email and newsgroups -- which I am currently using on my Wildcat! 4.2MP setup perfectly :)

UUCICO is simply the transport mechanism... one can use pretty much any one out there... the last one i used was FXUUCICO which was much much better than the previous UUCICO i had been using... FXUUCICO is still available, too... not sure what OSes it supports, though...

so what tool are you using to do the actual conversion from the .DAT and .XQT files you receive? are you converting them to FTN PKTs and then tossing??

connect to overseas that just has my system set up as a subdomain of
his domain - wildcat.uuhec.net.

Nope. It takes the raw D.* and C.* files that FXUUCICO downloads via
UUCP. Direct UUCP<->Wildcat! message base processing. wcUUCP did the
same thing with the older versions of Wildcat! 5. In fact, I got the
copy of FXUUCICO from the old Wildcat! 5 ICP addon :)
