I've just joined up here. Researching my family tree. Have always been interested in our family history. Unfortunally much of it lost because all have past on on my monther's side and with the exception of an uncle on my father's side who has also past we did not know anyone from the old country.

Some cousins proabably in Europe but we never knew them and have lost touch with all of the family.

Ancestry.com was not much help, I got more information from photos I've been archiving.

Rumors were that my history goes back to the Emperor Kaiser.

Welcome aboard! Nancy Backus should be hiding out around here and can help. I am not as active in here as I should be.

Fun fact: my mother has worked her genealogy 18 generations back and we're trying to get to 20 soon. Very interesting stuff.

Rumors were that my history goes back to the Emperor Kaiser.

Could be. I have German kings and queens in my lineage.

Thanks, I'm not as active either mostly because 99% of my time is spent on
ham radio. Also FIDO runs on a Windows XP drive on the radio computer and I
I have to switch OS to get here.

My best ham radio friend, (who is dead now), got me interested in family history. He was from England and I think the the smartest person I ever knew when it came to history of Great Britain and Europe, especially how all the Kings and Queend of the European contries are related through marriage.

What disappointed me when I really started to research my family about a year ago was how little there was past my immediate family on Ancestery, com, And nothing on my fathers's side at all past him and his brother who were the only two relatives on that side of the family who lived in the US.

I found it very disapointing that one or two of my Aunt's and Uncles on my mother's side, (all dead now), have no hits at all. I wondered how a person could live 90 some odd years with no record of their life anywhere. Like they never existed, no birth or death reecord, no education, never drove, never worked, never voted, never married, never had children, never died so no death record or obit. I know it's not true because they did all those things.
How can a person be lost in history?

Oh well. I should get back to the family photos but too much going on, on the air especially with the 6 meter E-Skip season approaching.
