The Latvian national team has added forward Teodors Blugers to its roster and has now 21 skaters and three goaltenders registered leaving one spot open on the roster for an additional skater.

Blugers arrived in Herning last night after finishing his second season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. The 23-year-old centre was second in goal scoring and third in points on the Pittsburgh farm team. In 70 AHL games he scored 21 goals and had 24 assists.

A native of Riga, Blugers was drafted by the Penguins in the second round in 2012 and started his professional career in the AHL in 2016 after finishing his
college career at the Minnesota State University Mankato. It will be his second
IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship after playing seven games (one goal) in Cologne last year.

Blugers will be a welcome addition upfront for the game against the United States this afternoon since Martins Karsums is ruled out for the remainder of the tournament. A puck hit his face after a slapshot of a teammate. Andris Dzerins also suffered an injury and is day-to-day.
