• No incoming IPv6

    Hello Alexey,

Any old x86_64 running Linux would serve just fine.

    1) I do not have one laying around.

    2) If I had, burning >100 Watt 24/7 is a waste of energy for just a router.

    3) I say my provider who gave me the modem/route is the one that should solve the problem.

The irony is that I more or less brought this onto myself by reporting a bug in the old modem. The bug was that the setting for an IPv6 pinhole was lost during power down. An inconvenience, but I could live with if need be. As a "solution" the Provider sends me a new modem. Which has no working IPv6 pinholing at all. AARgH!

    Cheers, Michiel

The new modem/router has a very serious bug that prevents me from
accepting incoming IPv6. I really hate this but until I can find a
solution for this problem my IPv6 will be Outgoing Only.

    Put openwrt on it :)

I wish I could. Before my povider gave me native IPv6, I had a LINKSYS WRT54GL running openwrt and I used it for running a he.net tunnel. The cable modem was a "dumb" Motorola Surfboard. That worked fine.

But this provider supplied modem/route is a closed box. No way that I can can put new firmware on it.

    Cheers, Michiel

    +1

my asus pn50 is under 65 watt at full load

a raspery pi will do fine as a router

you should not say router to them, just ask for a modem with ethernet connection so adsl fiber is passive doing nothing, all you else need is perfectly with a unifi router, where all you need can be expanded to all needs as you needs grov, i remote manage all my internet connections on android, eq close wifi if not home :=)

    weekend
