    So, I ordered AT&T gigabit fiber this weekend. I want to see how much better the $90/month gig fiber connection from AT&T performs vs the $129/month 25/16 connection from Comca$t. If what the Comca$t sales rep tells me is false, then
    I may cancel my Comca$t service by the end of the month and stick with AT&T fiber.

    and the two wired options are Cable from Comcast (who couldn't give me a service that worked) and VDSL from AT&T (worked for a while but they have
    some dubious business practices). Now I have Internet service from Earthlink over a local loop provided by AT&T.

    and the two wired options are Cable from Comcast (who couldn't give me a service that worked) and VDSL from AT&T (worked for a while but they have some dubious business practices). Now I have Internet service from Earthlink over a local loop provided by AT&T.

    Yeah, it's looking like Comca$t, for the price, is going to be the winner in this case. Cannot even get over 100mb in the download speeds, but get close to
    that in upload speeds.

    Andy, so far gigabit fiber is working out for us here quite well. It's nice being able to download my ArcaOS ISO images faster than before :) Plus any other ISO images I may need (for Linux and such). As far as our Netflix goes, that and other streaming video doesn't appear to have any change. Same with Pandora and my BSJ.fm app. :)

    Being able to download ISO images is a helpful thing
    that requires not just speed but some consistency. I
    tethered my new work laptop through a USB cable and my work mobile phone today and got over 30 Mbits/sec in both directions. It's *much* faster than my DSL service at home.

    Yeah, I stay connected to my work VPN all the time when I have my laptop at home. That way I can use the Cisco Jabber client (which I used as my soft phone) instead of my cell phone airtime (even though it is unlimited) to
    take place in our morning conference calls every day before I leave for work.

    Yeah, we have that installed on our laptops and our desktops along with Jabber on the laptops so we can utilize our desk phone numbers while we are on our laptops working from home. We use Skype for Business all day every day for interoffice communications.
