Hi, GUEST! Recently you wrote in a message to ARDITH HINTON:
Anyway, she mentioned in conversation that the Russian
language has no dialects. I don't disbelieve it. But
as a native speaker of English I found myself quite
surprised by the idea, and as the sort of person who
consults various sources I would also like to hear what
*you* think. :-)
Is anyone here??
Apart from you & me, I'm not sure. Are you Ed Koon? ;-)
Been doing some work on the bbs checking whats
still active.

Thankyou. Since you run a well-known BBS with quite a large number
of users, your input is important. But I understand why others may
hesitate to come out of the woodwork here until you've identified yourself
by name.... :-)
we're here...
A male friend of ours, who was born in one of
the ex-USSR countries, introduced us a few weeks
ago to his new girlfriend... born in another of
the ex-USSR countries. I hope this relationship
lasts because she & I liked each other from the
start! Anyway, she mentioned in conversation

don't disbelieve it. But as a native speaker of

Russian has dialects of course, but they don't seemThe Soviet Russian virtually didn't have dialiects due the strict language standard countrywide.
as disparate as those of English.
