From Errol Casey@1:103/705 to GitLab issue in main/sbbs on Fri Jan 16 13:08:28 2026

Currently when viewing files you can only scroll by using arrow keys.

Could a find option (ctrl-f) be added and/or maybe page up/page down; or some key stroke to let you move through file a page at a time?

The page up/down keys normally work to scroll through a page at a time - I just verified this myself.

I a web based terminal called ttyd; so I can reach my vps when I vpn up.

    https://github.com/tsl0922/ttyd

It claims to support sixel but haven't gotten it to work with bbs, :-(

But it is a nice web based tool when i cannot ssh directly to the server. It is password protected . Wish it had mfa or better password support.

Not sure if you know, but if you use ftelnet to connect to your BBS then you can use ;SHELL
    then export TERM=utf-8
you can run umonitor that way.

i cannot use ftelnet when on vpn. i'm sure the port is not being allowed through. But didn't know that I could access shell and set the TERM and use umonitor. Thanks for sharing that.

That's odd because ftelnet has nothing to do with the VPN. As long as you can reach your BBS webpage. ftelnet communicated with your BBS via websockets and basically uses the browser as a middleman, so I understand, like a proxy. I know it works fine for me when I VPN into work and I access the website via my work proxy.

If you want to run umonitor on your BBS machine, I feel like it would be easier to SSH to your BBS machine rather than telnetting to your BBS and shelling to the command prompt. And if you're running a graphical desktop environment on your BBS machine and remote desktop (with VNC or similar), you could leave umonitor running in its own window so you can always have a look at your BBS node status & such.
