    Incremental testing: first you try creating just a life-bearing
    planet, then you try creating a life-bearing planet _and_ a star for
    it to orbit.

    Except the stolen unit was preset to make the latter.

    Wait a sec... I don't remember the star part; although, of course, Spock's resurrection was due to a planet orbiting a sun. I think it's been too long since I've seen the first 4 movies...

    Oh, for sure. I read the book a few times, too. I just don't remember anything about the Genesis Torpedo creating a star along with the planet. I mean, of course it must have, but I was always a big geek about the physics, too (had Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise and everything). I would've thought I'd remember that. :P
