    Not quite the same - ahem! - "ingredients" mentioned above, but quite seriously, in some primitive societies, didn't they start the
    fermentation by getting virgins to spit into the wort?

    At this point I am tempted to suggest that they don't do it any more
    due to the shortage of virgins, but that would just be a cheap and
    tasteless remark!!!! 8^)
