• Cadence -- how to find package?

    Hello everyone,

I am setting up a new machine, this time based on 23.10.

From Mageia I am used to work with programs like "Cadence" to make audio bridges, meaning, jack and pulse audio can be mixed and, for instance,
voice plus Zynaddsubfx music as a sum can be fed as input signal into
    video conferences like Teams.

From Synaptic I cannot find Cadence package, though pages like https:// wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Cadence claim it would be installable from repo.

Does anyone have an idea how to get this to work?

Maybe such audio packages are only to be found in "Ubuntu Studio" distro,
so, can this be somehow integrated into Synaptic?

    Thanks!

    Best regards,

    Markus

KXstudio had these things to say about Ub:

    https://kx.studio/News/?action=view&url=changes-in-kxstudio-repositories-2

But the more important thing is whether or not the kxstudio .deb (for a repository w/ Cadence) is appropriate for your current v. of Ub. I
    can't tell that.

It seems to be OK for 20.04 & 22.04, but I don't know about 23.10

    Looking at launchpad .ppa/s I see bionic & focal (18.04 & 20.04).

23.10 is Mantic. That is quite a 'distance'.

By the time the 'distance' is so great, one has to consider another alternative; I've never examined Ub Studio.

Here's the Ub Studio front page; the default has a KDE. https://ubuntustudio.org/

    Hi Mike,

installing the deb package that registeres additional repos worked in
    23.10. Thanks!

So, after doing an apt update / apt upgrade, the former zynaddsubfx out of official repo got replaced with the newest zyn fusion from kx studio. This
was done by intention, of course.

But, what, if someone wants a "rollback" to the former version, that is no longer visible in synaptic? This looks as if only the most recent version
is "seen" by the installer, and no older version / lower version number
    can be selected.

Can synaptic be told to display all available versions, so that an older version of a package can be installed, if needed?

    Thanks!

    Best regards,

    Markus
