About the Author
H. Norman Wright, DMin, is a grief and trauma therapist and a licensed marriage, family, and child therapist. He has been on the faculty at Biola University and Talbot School of Theology for four decades. He has written more than 80 books, including Experiencing Grief and It's Okay to Be Angry.

Title: A guide but far from complete

Review: I’ve only read a small portion, and that seems quite good, well written. Dr Wright is a licensed counselor and has written mostly about marriage, family and loss, from a Christian worldview (with which I agree).
But as I looked for specific information about rape, incest and other sexual trauma—nothing, zero, not a whisper. I do not think it is appropriate to call this a “complete guide” if the author leaves out such an enormous and common source of trauma. A significant goal of this book is to help more people feel they know what to do when they encounter someone in crisis or dealing with trauma.
Pain, fear, grief, loss, these are in the index, so there is general information that would definitely apply to all un-mentioned traumas.
I’m sure it will prove useful but it is A guide, not THE COMPLETE guide it claims to be. I don’t want to be unfair; no book could cover every single kind of trauma humans can come up with.

Review: As a Police and Fire Chaplain I am called out to crisis and trauma situations often. I've gone through years of training and hold advanced degrees in counseling. This is quite possibly the best book on crisis and trauma counseling I've read! Not only does Dr. Wright deal with the various technical, physiological and emotional/psychological aspects of crisis counseling, he breaks his teaching down to various age levels, including children! This is excellent! This book has helped me tremendously and I highly recommend it to anyone who counsels, but especially Fire, Police and Military Chaplains!
