    But v16.7.3 has security fixes too as shown in https://support.apple.com/kb/HT214034.

    Hi Ant,

    *Apple has the _shortest_ full-support of all operating systems*

    Details here:
    *Distinguishing software updates from upgrades*
    <https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/about-software-updates-depc4c80847a/>

    Apple support is a fact that is well known which in colloquial terms is
    simply that there is full support for one release and only one release.

    Period.

    If you don't believe that fact, read these cites previously provided.
    <https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/10/apple-clarifies-security-update-policy-only-the-latest-oses-are-fully-patched/>
    <https://hothardware.com/news/apple-admits-only-fully-patches-security-flaws-in-latest-os-releases>
    <https://screenrant.com/apple-product-security-update-lifespan/>

    Suffice to inform you of these well-known facts about Apple support:
    1. Apple only fully supports a single release (which is iOS 17 currently).
    2. Apple may, at their discretion, partially support any older release.

    While Apple is the _only_ common consumer operating system vendor who has
    such a ridiculously minimalistic full-support policy, all operating system vendors will support any number of old releases at their discretion.

    In other words, what you're getting in iOS 16 (and what I just got myself
    for my iPad) is _not_ documented by Apple to be a fix for all bugs that
    they know of, and, in fact, Apple explicitly disavows ever doing so.

    You might get a fix or two, just as Windows XP and Android 4.4 might get a
    fix or two (particularly the egregious bugs, but it's not full support.

    And yes, I know the ignorant iKooks _hate_ that Apple lied to them in
    Apple's marketing such that they still think Apple is fully supporting all releases just because Apple fixes a bug or two in each (which Android,
    Linux and Microsoft also do but nobody calls that "full support").

    Only Apple iKooks are so ignorant as to not understand what I say above.

    Most people who own Apple products don't understand a thing about them.
    There are good reasons for that, partly due to its brilliant marketing.

    Not for me. When I go to settings/genera/software update, there
    was no choice of versions to select from.

    Just another datum, on my fifth-generation iPad (model number MP21H2LL/A),
    I updated to iPadOS 16.7.3 with no issues the moment I had seen Ant's post.

    How do we get another version, if it is possible?

    Just curious why you'd want to get any other version but the "latest"
    available to you, which for older devices is something less than iOS 17.

    Hi Ant,

    It's also not helpful, which is to be expected from the resident

    It's not surprising that you iKooks _hate_ that Apple has the shortest full support of any common consumer operating system (Microsoft has the
    longest).

    Nor is it surprising that you iKooks offer no facts whatsoever for denying Apple's own published support policy, other than you _hate_ what Apple
    does.

    Given you iKooks _hate_ everything about Apple, it's not suprising that
    your _only_ response is to call anyone who bears facts, a "loser".

    Which is kind of funny.

    But you hating the fact that Apple has the shortest full-support of all
    common consumer operating systems doesn't change that it's a basic fact.

    The iKooks don't comprehend that most operating systems are updated in asynchronous layers, where Android is still supported back to version 4.4.
