• App Store login fails

    From Ed Cryer@ed@somewhere.in.the.uk to comp.mobile.ipad on Mon Sep 1 16:10:27 2025
    From Newsgroup: comp.mobile.ipad

On my recently purchased iPad Pro I can't download from the App Store.
I choose an item, and get informed "account not yet used on iTunes
Store; Tap Review to sign in".
I tap Review, then comes a screen with "Agree to terms and conditions".
I slide the button to green, hit Next, and nothing happens.

You probably haven't entered all the billing and shipping information
in your account. You don't need a credit card if you only plan to
download free apps, but you do need the address, etc. details.

Probably best to quit from the App Store app before doing this.

The error message "This Apple ID has not yet been used in
the iTunes Store" usually occurs when you're attempting to
download an app for the first time using a new Apple ID.
This isn't an error per se, but rather a prompt to set up
your Apple ID for the App Store.

To resolve this issue, you'll need to complete the initial
setup process for your Apple ID. Here's how to do it:

    1. Open the 'Settings' app.
    2. Tap your name at the top of the screen.
    3. Tap 'Media & Purchases'.
    4. Sign in to your Apple ID if prompted.
    5. If you haven't already, enter your billing and shipping
information. You can choose to enter a valid credit card
or select "None" if you don't plan on making purchases.
    6. Tap Review.
    7. Review your account information and tap Accept.

Once you've completed these steps, you should no longer
encounter the error message "This Apple ID has not yet been
used in the iTunes Store" when downloading apps.

    Thanks for that.
There is an error with payment method. It wants a card number.
I can't see how to enter "None", and I don't trust leaving credit card
    details online.

You will need to make sure you've got your Country/Region properly set
on the main Account Settings page. If it is set to a country different
from where you are, the payment options may be different.

If you're already using that Apple ID to pay for other services (e.g.
iCloud payments, Music, subscriptions, etc.), then you can't use the
None option, since those services are paid via the same credit card. It
is also needed if using Family Sharing. See this website for various
things that cause "None" to not be available. <https://www.tuneskit.com/unlock-ios/no-none-option-for-apple-id-payment.html>

Some people have even had to add a credit card and then remove it again
as the payment method for the None option to show up.
    Removing a payment option: <https://support.apple.com/en-us/118291>

It should also be noted that different countries have different laws
that Apple has to abide by, so the "None" option might not be available
where you live if the laws say it is required for things like age verification.
