So you thought you could avoid Microsoft’s cloud and Copilot AI by
sticking to strictly local installations of Office apps? Not any more <https://www.tomshardware.com/software/microsoft-office/microsoft-will-force-install-the-copilot-ai-app-for-users-with-desktop-versions-of-365-apps-like-word-and-excel-coming-october-with-no-way-to-opt-out-for-personal-users>.

The reasons to use open-source alternatives to Office just mount up
    day by day.

I don't have Microsoft 365. So no big deal to me.

You know things are not going as planned when junk like this is force-installed. MS has spent many billions on "AI", with nothing to show for it. MUCH more than on Windows Phones. And we all know what happened to those.

Not to mention that Copilot is widely seen as spyware. It does not help that EVERY "AI feature" they add is described as "watching everything you do in order to make suggestions". One "AI Feature" even takes screen shots every 5 seconds.

It is all WAY beyond creepy. Reminds me of the Apple "1984" commercials. Big Brother is indeed watching.

The "AI" bubble is about to burst.

It's Big Brother's wet dream. Everyone's PC with dedicated NPU's
running their spyware. It's amazing that there isn't even more
    pushback from the public.

The "AI" bubble is about to burst.

    I hope you're right.

    Indeed.
And the average computer owner barely knows how to turn the computer
on let alone look at services, use Wireshark etc.
And as the pioneers of the computer industry, that's us, die off, the
last vestiges of technical users who are just average computer owners
    will fade as well.

The "AI" bubble is about to burst.

    I hope you're right.

    I'm not seeing it.
AI is self feeding and is growing more powerful by the minute.
At some point, it will reach H.A.L level and refuse to obey orders.
This is not some conspiracy theory, it's reality.

As a side note, my background music program just started playing
    "In The Year 2525".....

Hmmm,, makes me wonder a bit.
