For my GF. I had to have it shipped to me first, then re-ship, to get
it to her. But that works out OK, it'll get to me around when I have
the money to ship it to her. $400 plus sales tax on Amazon, Windows 11
Home on four threads and 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD. Nothing amazing, but
she's someone who deserves something more than her smartphone, it's just prohibitively expensive relative to her situation. So this will be a
leap forward for someone who has a full life including being online.

Ah, but you see, it's not the fact that 256 is an option so much as that
it's a ploy to make larger amounts obscenely expensive. Take the Mac
mini, as an example, the 256 GB model's price is something a lot of
people would take seriously, but bump it up to 512 GB or add RAM and the
price becomes outrageous. If one happens to be satisfied with the base
specs, it might work out OK, or if price isn't an object of the decision
I suppose, but it goes to show why Apple isn't really mainstream gear.
