It’s not a premium product. Associating that sort of thing with a
premium brand tends to be bad for the premium brand.

It is not intended to “boost Apple’s profits”. BTW, that will come when
the user buys their NEXT Mac in a few years.

It’s not a premium product. Associating that sort of thing with a

    You wish.

But it will still have the premium experience, compared to Windows and especially Linux. Particularly if the user already has an iPhone. Which will lead to the user getting an iPad, using Apple Music and other
    products. Even more profits.

Microsoft does not have such a stellar range of products for consumers. Linux has nothing at all for consumers.

Remember. All people are not computer geeks. Nor do they want to become one.

And discovers that it costs a whole lot more?

    Marketing 101.

But it will still have the premium experience, compared to Windows
    and especially Linux.

Doesn’t seem to be, so far, judging from the mixed reviews.

Probably a relevant point, yes. If it brings more people to using the platform, long term, that's a good investment.

How is macOS so "premium" compared to Windows "and especially" Linux?
It always comes down to personal preference. I'm not against
right-brained Apple fans having what they want, but objectively, it's
off the beaten path, not mainstream. Buying a Mac merely because one
has an iPhone is a big mistake.

    Laughable.

Remember. All people are not computer geeks. Nor do they want to become one.

Well, using Apple products will definitely fail to make them one.

Well, most people do not want to be computer geeks. They have better
things to do with their time.

For me Mac OS and Windows are two dialects of the same language. They
both do the job and do it well. For me lately it comes down to the hardware. --- Synchronet 3.21f-Linux NewsLink 1.2
