• To Whom It May Concern: On-Line Shopping

    From Distro Lackey@dl@lackey.com to comp.os.linux.advocacy on Thu Jun 25 21:30:32 2026
    From Newsgroup: comp.os.linux.advocacy

I was unable to complete on-line shopping orders with certain
vendors using both Firefox and Iron (Chrome) browsers on my
wonderful Gentoo/LFS system. As a fallback, I had to complete
the orders on a Micro$lop (yecch!) machine.

I had suspected that my customization of Firefox was somehow
responsible. Thus, I decided to delete all of my Firefox
profiles and other config files and install again from scratch
    while accepting all defaults.

It worked! Using GNU/Linux Firefox I can shop and order anywhere
    on-line.

Let this be a lesson to all of those cock-sucking, mother-fucking,
imbecilic, retarded assholes who accused my fantastic Gentoo/LFS
    system of being inferior.

The fault was both the vendors and the Firefox configuration.
    That is all.

Also, my original assertion is still true: if these idiot
vendors would adhere to web standards then there would never
    be any problems.

So "FUCK YOU!" to all those who have impugned my remarkable
    Gentoo/LFS system.

In fact, I have just completed a delivery order for some
lovely Carlo Rossi Sangria wine (10% alcohol) from Kroger,
a vendor that formerly always failed.

    Fuck the distro slave!

Gentoo/LFS is the one and only way!

...This may be the saddest post he's ever made.

Gotta be a Poe troll: When it came to using a browser, it
wasn't the Gentoo distro that was inferior -- it was the operator.

And then he brags about "lovely Carlo Rossi".

(I'm not kidding, it's actually pitiful -- Poe's Law or not.)

Sangria is a slightly carbonated wine, and that means that
one may belch after a glass or two.

I will be sure to dedicate my belches to YOU.

    You actually drink Sangria?
No wonder you are twisted like a pretzel.
Sugar, tannic acid and histamines are a clear path to a very nasty hangover. And anything from Carlo Rossi is cheap stuff,.

Try Carmel Road Monterey Cabernet Sauvignon instead.
    It;'s inexpensive and very smooth.

If you want to spend more, then Stonestreet
    Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
    is my go to.
Serve it with a quality NY strip steak and you will love it.

Alas, his main criteria would seem to be the alcoholic content
    of the wine.

Which is why it marks his post as so pitiable.

    Your computer is rogue.

It whispers to him. It has convinced him that Iron is Chrome.

I wonder if he knows the computer as "Sam"...

    (Be wary.)

I forgot how old the story is. iirc Gibson didn't know too much about computers at the time and was thinking in terms of the early game
    consoles.

Now if he'd just finish the damn trilogy...

I favored Gallo Hearty Burgundy in the gallon jug. Best pennies per proof gallon buy and it didn't put you into a diabetic coma like Wild Irish
