    It isn’t just the Europeans pushing back against control over their
    data by US-based companies: now some African nations are getting into
    the act as well <https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/4/zambia-delaying-us-deals-over-minerals-and-data-demands>.

    It doesn’t help, of course, that the US tries to use the leverage of
    one deal (over health) to push through a separate one on minerals.
    That kind of thing does smack somewhat of trying to pressure the other
    party into a more favourable deal ...

    I did it long time ago. US is banned to extract my minerals and health.
    Zambia got inspired, congratulation.
    Nothing will change. Just headlines.
