OnePlus and Realme may be heading for a major internal restructuring under Oppo, according to reports based on a Weibo post from a Chinese tipster.
The report claims that OnePlus and Realme have "officially" merged parts of their operations into a new internal structure described as a "sub-product center." This unit would reportedly combine both domestic Chinese and global product operations for the two brands. Li Jie, president of OnePlus China, is said to be leading the product side and reporting to OnePlus founder Pete Lau. Former Realme executive Wang Wei is reportedly serving as deputy general manager.
The marketing and service sides of both brands are also said to be moving into a shared business unit. According to the same reports, Realme founder Li Bingzhong will lead that business structure, while Xu Qi will handle marketing and after-sales operations for both OnePlus and Realme.
However, this does not appear to mean that OnePlus and Realme are instantly disappearing as consumer-facing brands. The more likely interpretation is that Oppo is trying to reduce duplication behind the scenes by sharing product planning, software, supply-chain resources, marketing, and service infrastructure while keeping the separate brand names alive. 91mobiles notes that the real change appears to be organizational, since both brands already share parts of Oppo's broader ecosystem.
The story also fits into a larger pattern. In January 2026, Realme said it was being integrated into Oppo as a sub-brand in order to pool resources and reduce costs. Reuters reported that Realme, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus all sit within the broader BBK-linked smartphone ecosystem. OnePlus had already moved closer to Oppo years earlier, with Pete Lau announcing in 2021 that OnePlus would "further integrate" with Oppo while continuing to operate under its own brand.
There is still an important caveat: neither OnePlus nor Realme has formally confirmed the new merger report. Android Authority said the claim remains only a report for now. Android Central also said OnePlus North America told it that the company is "evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy," while saying after-sales support, software updates, and user rights commitments remain guaranteed.
OnePlus India went further and denied the merger rumors in a statement to Financial Express, saying its local business continues to operate as usual and calling the reports "unverified speculation." Realme reportedly declined to comment.
For customers, the near-term impact may be limited. Phones, updates, warranties, and service are not being officially discontinued. The bigger question is what happens over time: OnePlus has traditionally aimed at the premium and "flagship killer" market, while Realme has focused more heavily on aggressive pricing and fast product refreshes. If both brands start sharing one product roadmap, their identities could blur, especially in the mid-range segment.
