    Is there something underlying notifications?

I am adrift! I was in Peru for 11 days, and now I'm getting frequent notifications of something from the cellular company I used and from the computer store where I bought a wireless mouse.

I could turn off the notifications for each of these, but would there
still be something sent to me, in the background I guess, and the only
change would be that I wouldn't be notifiied of it????

I get maybe 4 a day so over a year there would be 1500 of these in a
pile somewhere, never recycled, gathering dust, maybe mold and mildew, attacting flies, maybe rodents. After 10 years there would be more than
15,000 and even though they are small, they are not that small and I
envision them seeping out between the front and back sides of the case,
getting over my hands and clothes, and possibly dripping into the food
    I'm eating.

I don't want this to happen. As I write, I think maybe I could
dissociate myself from the cellular company, but I'm not associated with
the computer store. They just got my phone number because I called them
    before I went there.

How does one normally stop someone from sending things worthy of
    notification?

The shop is surely not sending "notifications" (for that they would need
some app installed in your phone), they are sending something else,
maybe SMSs, and you get a notification for each SMS.

Read what the notification actually says for clues.

Well, there are no texts from them, but the latest notification says.

It starts off mentinoing Firefox and I did look at their page on Firefox
on the phone. I opened Firefox but I have no idea where to look to see
any trace.... Okay I looked in tabs and found one from Coobox: Precios
bajos con gar... (all that I can see). Maybe that's directly relate to
the notification below. At any rate there are 3 tabs from Coolbox that
I've deleted and though I don't see how a tab can generate
notifications, I'll see if that stops their notification. Maybe the
host, Coolbox, knows I have a tab.

    Firefox - www.coolbox.pe - 28m

    !Ofertas exclusivas en tienda
Ven por tus audifonos y parlantes Bluetooth con los Precios Locura !Te eesperamos [sic]!

Then there's anothe r9 minutes earlier.

And I guess somehow it stopped showing those from earlier days. Maybe I accidentally deleted them.

When you enter some web pages there is a popup or whatever that
"subscribes" you to updates from the page (they ask for permission). I
don't remember how they work exactly, I read about the method once and
decided I would always say "no" to them. So I do.

You may have one of those active.

And yes, having a tab open from some webpages can put up notifications.
I never keep open a webpage in the phone for long. Just close their tabs.

I do too. I never says yes to subscriptions, and I only say yes to
location if location matters, like weather .

I thought the only effect was using a little storage, until I closed it.
