Another update:
If you're* interested in another Usenet archive, consider
news.blueworldhosting.com
It's a read-only Usenet host; no authentication (e.g.,
userID/password) required. Just point your newsreader to the host
above (port 119 or 563) and you're good to go.
[there's no web interface, so don't bother with your
browser. If you do go there via http you'll just get
text instructions on how to configure your newsreader]
It has messages going as far back as 1994 (at least for CSIPGA),
possibly further, although in general the bulk of the archive is
currently 2003 onward. The goal is to make it as complete an archive
of the 'big-eight' groups as possible.
Anyway, with Google's Usenet archive defunct this is a good, quick way
to access a Usenet archive.
* And if you're not interested, that's okay too. I care about stuff
like that, A big reason I make these posts is to serve as for
reminders to me that they exist ;-)
