Me, I immediately thought of the old "Prototype" games that came out
around 2010 (back in the XBox360 era, although a PC version was made
too). It's pure power-fantasy; you are _so_ overpowered compared to
pretty much anybody else in the game, and its mostly through sheer
numbers of opponents that there is any danger to you. And even then,
managing to fight off several tanks, Apache helicopters, mutant
brutes, and several squads of soldiers all at the same time is quite
doable. You get new powers at a fairly rapid rate too, and scaling up skyscrapers is always awesome.
It's less obvious, but you get a similar experience in almost any
linear, single-player FPS too (the Dooms, the Quakes, and the like).
No grinding; just a long run through corridors and chambers filled
with targets to shoot, and ammo pickups so you can keep shooting them.
