It's another free game announcement. This time, it's:


* Warhammer: Vermintide 2 https://store.steampowered.com/app/552500/Warhammer_Vermintide_2/
You're probably already familiar with this one. It's a co-op
FPS shooter (well, there's a lot of melee combat too) set in
the fantasy Warhammer world. The ratlike Skaven are boiling
out of the ground and its up to a company of heroes to fight
them back. Pick your class and gear up. It's... okay. A bit
grindy, and I find the setting sort of dull but if you like
class-based co-op shooters, it's fine. I still prefer
"Left4Dead" more, though.


You've got until Monday to claim this one. Alas, I already paid for it

Not bad I have the first one. This is one of the better WH titles I think.

(I think these are always free rather than being time-limited, but

Me too. I think the devs have been steadily releasing new content over
the years and --since I haven't played the game since it came out--
I've missed out on the free stuff.

Not that grabbing the new stuff made it any more likely I'll be
replaying the game any time soon. As a single-player experience, I
found the level design to be quite poor and felt the classes/weapons
made the experience more complicated than it needed to be; meanwhile,
my brief foray into the multiplayer world with this game reminded me
why I normally stick to single-player. (I don't remember any specific
details, but I wrote in my 2019 review: "Even for the toxic pit that
is online-gaming, the players of Vermintide 2 stood out as real
assholes" so I can't imagine it was pleasant. Although maybe that's
changed over the years; I won't be finding out, though.)

Some of the Myth: Fallen Lords players got me screaming mad sometimes,
but what an experience.

I noticed it .046727ms after hitting send. I'm bad enough with typos
in my main text, but at least I try to spellcheck those. I always
forget to check the subject line. Still, I thought I got away with
nobody noticing until you had to mention it ;-)


I generally like how you can't edit Usenet posts after the fact, but
