Yup, I'm back again. What can I say; I like listing offers for free
(or even sorta-free) games! The only thing that would be better would
be if I could do it in a spreadsheet! Alas, the silly text-only
strictures of Usenet prevent that dream from ever coming true, so I'll
just have to stick to these sorts of announcements. ;-)
This time around we get:*
- Dungeons & Dragons: Krynn Series (via GOG)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/dungeons_dragons_krynn_series
It's hard for me to praise these games, because I've a
lot of nostalgia for the Goldbox era of SSI games, and
for the Dragonlance saga in general... but man, its hard
to love these games. "Pool of Radiance" and "Curse of the
Azure Bonds" --which used the same mechanics and engine--
got a pass because they were so novel for their time, but
the Dragonlance games felt old even when they came out
in 1990. Only the most die-hard Dragonlance/Goldbox fans
need bother.
- GunSlugs (via GOG)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/gunslugs
Bleh. Procedural generation. Rogue-like permadeth.
Retro-graphics. If only it had crafting and deckbuilding
mechanics, and I could /really/ hate on this game. Also,
no slugs. Pass.
- Dream Tactics (via GOG)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/dream_tactics
Retro graphics. JRPG style gaming. Anime-esque character
design. Deckbuilding mechanics. The fact that this is
a strategy game makes it a bit more endurable to me
than Gunslugs... but not by much. Pass.
- PlateUp! (via EPIC)
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/plateup-a99631
Basically, "Overcooked" except with more business-
management sim baked into it. It might be fun in co-op
if the game weren't so buggy. Pass.
- Big Adventure Trip to Europe CE (via Legacy)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2746330/Big_Adventure_Trip_to_Europe_6__Collectors_Edition/
It's a freebie from Amazon, it's a game on Legacy, it's
the last game on my list; you know what this game is all
about. Yup, it's yet-another-hidden-object adventure game.
This one has a Christmas theme, so there's that.
Not a good start to the holiday season, Amazon. I hope your offerings
the rest of this month are more exciting. Oh well, it's not as if I'd
stop announcing them either way. ;-)

* Do I even have to point out that the URLs are informational only,
and if you actually want to CLAIM the games you need to go to
https://gaming.amazon.com and have a Prime Membership? Well, probably
not... but I just did so anyway! ;-)
