Remember "Conan Exiles"? I wouldn't be surprised if you don't. It made
a splash when it was first announced in 2016, but after it's launch a
year later this fantasy MMORPG slid under the waters without making
much of a ripple. Released long after the MMORPG heyday, it really
didn't do too much new for the genre and other than its license --and
the nudity-- it was seen as a fairly unremarkable and somewhat tedious
game. If you loved the license or just really dug MMORPGs, it was
okay... but it didn't really blow up like its publisher hoped it
    would.

Anyway, it's getting an Unreal 5-powered update to its visuals. So now
you can enjoy your naked bits in higher-fidelity graphics.*

"Conan Exiles" was one of the many MMORPGs I tried over the years,
desperately hoping that it would be the one to FINALLY make me
appreciate the genre. I'm a fan of the low-fantasy, low-magic Conan
setting, and I hoped that would be enough to keep my interest up. But
I didn't even get past the tutorial section before I dumped the game.
I can't judge if the game really was as tedious and un-innovative as
others have claimed; all I can say is that its GUI and mechanics felt
too much the same to every other MMORPG I've tried and I just don't
care for that style of playing.

So I doubt I'll be reinstalling this game just to see how the
enhancement turns out. But if you're in the mood "to crush your
enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of
their women", well here's an opportunity to do it with more detailed
    textures and better lighting effects.

I had tried to play it at some point, but couldn't get it to work or something.

I mean, it looks like last gen graphics. It's got nothing on Elden Ring
and Crimson Desert. *shrug*. Too little too late.

I remember it. I tried it out with a friend when it was new. I did not
care for the setting. Conan, in whatever form, never interested me.
This MMO did not help to make me a fan. I never even saw the
    Schwarzenegger movies. :-P

I don't think it looks that bad. MMORPGs are always a bit behind the
curve anyway, and considering the enhancement is free I think they've
    done a pretty good job.

    There's a video here https://youtu.be/Q8ft6xBCX50
that gives you a better idea of the improvements, with perfect
shot-for-shot comparisons (terribly generic music, though ;-)

It's just a shame I don't care for the underlying gameplay. It was
never the graphics that chased me away from the first game; this newer
    version looks nice enough too.
