• FYI: Western Digital Hard Drive (NAS) sale ending this weekend -

Found a pretty good deal on Western Digital 3.5" SATA Hard Drives this past week; sale ends on 7 Jan 2024.

SKU: WD142KFGX ... is a "Red Pro NAS Hard Drive" and SMR (not CMR), but it is still a lot of capacity on a single spindle, which makes Time Machine easy:

    Price? Buy two (2) 14TB HDDS for just $440 (+tax) ...
... works out to $220 per drive, or <$16 per TB.

Not the most frugal per TB, but the sweet spot has been for lower capacities (last I checked, around 8TB).

Correction: looks like it's CMR, not SMR. That's better.
