As the war on Iran by Israel and the US enters its 15th day since February
28, 2026, Donald Trump is gunning to amp up operations at the Strait of
Hormuz, the passageway for 20% of the world's total supply of oil. Iran
has been reportedly mining the strait while also threatening to attack any ferries along the way. Earlier an India-bound Thai cargo ship, 'Mayuree
Naree,' carrying oil was hit with a missile by the Iranian force. Another tanker was also reportedly hit.
On Friday, Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, vowed to keep the strait closed until attacks on the country ceased. Meanwhile, per the Telegraph, the USS Tripoli with 5,000 sailors and the 31st Marine
Expeditionary Unit, a Marine Amphibious Ready Group, has departed from
Okinawa in Japan. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is capable of
launching ground assaults as well. The USS Tripoli will take two weeks to arrive in the conflict zone where the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald
R. Ford are stationed.
