• MacBook Neo - what a shit-storm!

Wow, go to YouTube and search on MacBook NEO. Literally hundreds of
videos from creators. I do not remember any Mac of recent vintage that
has stirred up a hornet's nest like this. Hearkens back the Windows 95 - Macintosh OS wars of the 1990s.

YouTube opinions are all over map. Everything from it's going to kill
Windows and Linux to ho-hum to it's a toy computer. There are videos on Windows-MacOS transition, Windows-Linux-Neo-MacBook Air performance comparisons, unbox and setup, what software will it run, gaming
performance, is 2 ports enough, and much, much more.

This is really exciting. Will NEO bring in a whole new group of Mac
users? Will NEO cannibalize MacBook Air? Will NEO be just a shot-lived footnote? Or something else entirely?

Even if it does, will the result boost Apple’s profits, or drag them
    down?

It’s not a premium product. Associating that sort of thing with a
premium brand tends to be bad for the premium brand.

It is not intended to “boost Apple’s profits”. BTW, that will come when
the user buys their NEXT Mac in a few years.

It’s not a premium product. Associating that sort of thing with a
premium brand tends to be bad for the premium brand.

    You wish.

But it will still have the premium experience, compared to Windows and especially Linux. Particularly if the user already has an iPhone. Which will lead to the user getting an iPad, using Apple Music and other
    products. Even more profits.

Microsoft does not have such a stellar range of products for consumers. Linux has nothing at all for consumers.

Remember. All people are not computer geeks. Nor do they want to become one.

And discovers that it costs a whole lot more?

    Marketing 101.

But it will still have the premium experience, compared to Windows
    and especially Linux.

Doesn’t seem to be, so far, judging from the mixed reviews.

I will do that search. Thanks.

Probably a relevant point, yes. If it brings more people to using the platform, long term, that's a good investment.

How is macOS so "premium" compared to Windows "and especially" Linux?
It always comes down to personal preference. I'm not against
right-brained Apple fans having what they want, but objectively, it's
off the beaten path, not mainstream. Buying a Mac merely because one
has an iPhone is a big mistake.

    Laughable.

Remember. All people are not computer geeks. Nor do they want to become one.

Well, using Apple products will definitely fail to make them one.
