• att: Maria: Samsung's fractured OS update "policy"

    Oh my

One UI 8.5 is finally starting to roll out to some older Samsung phones.
It does not fully update to flagship S26's features. It cannot. S26 has different hardware. Therefore it is not a full UI update. And it is very
late, coming up on the impending next Android release date. Worse, the
next Samsung UI update is already looking as bleak.

    https://www-sammyfans-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.sammyfans.com/2026/05/10/one-ui-9-5-rollout-is-already-looking-bleak/amp/?amp_js_v=0.1&amp_gsa=1#webview=1&cap=swipe

Promises broken, updates are late and incomplete. Not very different
from past attempts to update Android phones made by other companies.

Prediction: in 6 years many older Samsung phones promised 7 OS updates
will either never receive them, or if they do they will be only
    superficial and late.

Apple will remain the leader in long term support. Apple is today the
only vertically integrated company built to offer that long term
support. That may change in seven years, but at this time it's not
    obvious how that will happen.

I'm sure that the resident Android advocate will paint this as a win.
After all, the old hardware did indeed get an update, no matter how
broken and painful it is. For them, pyrrhic victories are victories still.

He/she/it will not even reply to this, because he/she/it is a chicken
shit coward troll boy who is only looking for attention. Which is what
all trolls are doing. Looking at threads that prove he/she/it wrong -
and where he/she/it could actually learn something - is not why
    he/she/it is here.

He/she/it only replies to the threads he/she/it starts. And even there, he/she/it does not acknowledge evidence that he/she/it is wrong.

Which begs he question, why is anyone still replying to this chicken
    shit coward troll boy?

Because some people haven't been here for years, aren't aware that
someone is a troll, and would want to make a judgment about a person themselves rather than accept someone else's opinion. Besides, it
appears that the people complaining about trolls never themselves post anything to this group, causing it to be boring beyond belief, so their opinion doesn't even matter.

That's right, we are on an AMA Waterways river cruise about to return to Bordeaux. After that we fly to Nice, take a bus to tiny quaint Eza, then
fly to Paris. Going to Paris only to see Notre Dame de Paris after the restoration. Then home on May 21. The ship, AmaDolce, has 24/7 wifi.

Before breakfast here on the ship I updated the OS on 2 phones, 2
tablets, 2 watches and a MacBook.
